15th Annual Spring Planting

Trees Across Raleigh will hold its 15th annual Spring planting this year on March 24, 2012 at 9 am. We will be planting at Fallon Park, Along the Surrounding Green Way Trails and local FEMA lots. Registration will be at the corner of Anderson and Oxford. Be sure to wear closed toed shoes and clothes that can get DIRTY!!!!

Thank you to everyone who came out and volunteered this fall with Trees Across Raleigh… Our total tree count for the season is 360 trees! Our three planting sites were Chavis Park Green Way and the surrounding neighborhoods , Washington GT Elementary, and Historic Oakwood Cemetery.

Additional Thanks to all of our sponsors and supporters for making our contribution to Raleigh possible.

Fall 2011 Planting at Washington Elementary

Come out and help Trees Across Raleigh plant trees at Washington Elementary on November 5th 9am-12pm. We will be working Washington Elementary’s PTA to help restore much of the damage from last Aprils tornado.

Be sure to wear clothes that can get Dirty , and closed toed shoes!!!!

How to Properly Plant a Tree

A simple step-by-step guide to planting a tree and how easy it can be!

1. Measure the hole. Do not plant the trees too deeply. If you bury part of the trunk, it eventually rots and kills the tree.

2. Measure the plant.

3. Prepare hole.

4. Gently run your hand over the base of the root ball to break up/ loosen the dirt and roots. Place plant in hole.

5. Cover root ball with soil.

6. Place mulch around plant. Be sure to leave a ring of empty space around the base of the tree.
